With the polls so close in the presidential election, the latest are consistently showing a dead heat tie; just a small ripple sized event could make the difference between who is President and who throws a temper tantrum as the world’s sorest loser.

Donald Trump’s ceiling is solidified meaning he cannot appeal to more voters; in fact, he doesn’t care to. He also has a solidified floor. He won’t lose any votes, no matter what he does his vote is a fixed amount.

So, Trump’s strategy in the last weeks of the campaign is to dummy down with his rhetoric, energize his base and drag down his opponent with negative campaigning in hopes of suppressing the Democrats vote.

What ever you do to Trump, you can’t hit him. You can indict him, show how offensive his words are to groups, highlight his indiscretions, foibles, lies, expose his fraud, sexual assaults and still his 74 million votes will vote, in fact if anything the more transgressions are featured the more his % of voter base turns up.

So, the only base that has the potential to grow this late in the campaign is Harris’s. What can she do to foster an October surprise? She has contrasted her policies with Trump’s, appearing on strategically important TV shows, podcasts and other digital outlets. She has so many surrogates including the Obama’s, Biden’s and Clinton’s, influential Republicans like the former vice president, Dick Cheney, his daughter Lynn and Adam Kinzinger.

The only feather left in the quiver that would prove to be the most effective is an endorsement by the former Republican President, George W. Bush. A past president from Trump’s party could pick off enough wavering Republican voters and Republican leaning independents to make the difference in a race this tight.

Yes, President Bush has already stated he will not endorse in this race and his distancing from his former vice will not influence him, but if he could be persuaded that however inappropriate it would be for a former president to endorse the nominee for the other party and thus going against his party’s nominee, as a former president he has a duty to his country to save democracy, heck he has a duty to his own party to save it from the clutches of a cult.

He could be back on the national stage putting country first in a heroic gesture.

He has already expressed disdain for Trump by appearing in a video with 42 and 44 for Joe Biden’s inauguration. His daughters repeatedly express distaste for Trump on national television and his late mother made no bones about how she felt about Trump. His top strategist Karl Rove is a card-carrying member of the never-Trumpers.

As a retired politician, Bush need not worry about future ramifications.

So, whoever can get to W, whether it’s Laura or his daughters, his brother has some scores to settle with Trump, Karl Rove, his buddies Barack, Michelle or Bill Clinton, someone has to impress upon 43 the magnitude of this gesture. A path paved by his own vice-president.

The USA CAN go back in order to propel ourselves into a prosperous and sustainable future. It can happen with George W. Bush.

Mission can be accomplished.
